Hikvision launched the first energy-saving DVR-eDVR equipped with SSD, leading the trend of the future
HIKVISION,
a world-renowned leading brand in security monitoring, launched the first
surveillance video host eDVR equipped with SSD solid-state hard drive, which is
suitable for places where it is easy to use and where it is difficult to
install the host. Also because there is no need to install additional hard
disks, the eDVR size is only two 5.25-inch hard disks combined, and because
there is no need to install additional hard disks, the energy consumption is
45% lower than that of models equipped with hard disks. Energy consumption,
with excellent performance in energy saving and cost saving. Currently, 4/8/16
channel models have been launched, with a maximum support of 5 million pixels.
What are eDVRs?
To lower the cost of living and minimize
environmental pollution, we need to make efficient choices about energy. Hikvision's
new eDVR series was born to solve this series of problems.
Thanks to Hikvision's embedded solid-state drive
technology, this energy-saving eDVR series has a longer lifespan, more durable
eSSD, and offers higher stability than traditional DVRs. With the support
of Motion Detection 2.0 or AcuSense technology, eDVR provides new convenience
for users to search videos.
What is the biggest difference between eDVR and ordinary DVR?
Compared with ordinary DVR, the biggest difference between eDVR and ordinary DVR is that eDVR uses SSD storage instead of mechanical hard disk HDD. The SSD in the eDVR integrates the controller, NAND Flash Memory, and Cache into one chip, which we call eSSD. Using integrated chip DVR, the overall performance is more stable, reducing maintenance cost.At the same time, traditional mechanical hard disks are high-precision mechanical parts. The distance between the vulnerable magnetic head and the disk is only 0.005 μm to 0.01 μm. Vibration, drop, even installation is not flat, and there are large noise fluctuations around the environment (such as firecrackers), etc. Both may cause collision between the magnetic head and the disk, resulting in hard disk failure and bad blocks; eSSD has no mechanical structure, is not afraid of any vibration or even falling, and has no strict requirements on installation conditions, which fundamentally determines the stability of storage and the security of data.
What are the advantages of eDVR?
Save moneyCompared with traditional HDD DVR, eSSD has a service life of up to 10 years and better device stability, while traditional HDD hard drives have a service life of 3-5 years. Moreover, there are many second-hand hard drives on the market, and the purchase risk is high. The lifespan is short, and replacement of the hard disk is also a large expense. eDVR does not need to worry about the second-hand hard disk at all, ensuring stable and long-term operation of the device, and reducing the cost for later maintenance.
Simple save space
eDVR is small in size, which is equivalent to a mechanical hard disk, saving more space, and the installation location is more free. It is suitable for some warehouses, villas, small restaurants, hotels and other places.
Energy saving save energy
The power consumption of traditional mechanical hard disk is mainly because there is a motor inside the HDD. The high-speed rotating motor consumes a lot of power, and at the same time it will cause mechanical wear and heat. However, eDVR stores data electronically, without any moving parts, and has the advantages of high speed and low power consumption.
For entry-level users and environments with tight electricity consumption, the long-term electricity bill of traditional DVRs is an expense that cannot be ignored. The design of eSSD brings ultra-low power consumption. The power consumption of the whole machine is only 5.4-6.2 W (12V, 0.45~0.52A), which is about 40%+ lower than that of traditional DVRs, and can save about 45 kWh of electricity per year (with a Seagate 1T hard drive Calculated by working at full load); the electricity saved per year can charge the iPhone 14 more than 3,000 times.
Convenient save labor
Ordinary DVR requires multiple steps to complete
the installation, such as: removing screws, installing hard disks, and
re-tightening screws and other cumbersome steps, while eDVR can be used only by
powering on, which greatly saves installation time. Whether it is the installer
or the end consumer, it can be installed quickly.
